About
I’m a cloud architect at the Office of the Chief Information Officer in Newfoundland and Labrador, working on Azure deployment and cloud security for the provincial government. I’ve been in IT for over thirty years, roughly the last ten of them focused on cloud.
Before this
I was a senior advisor and security engineer in ESDC’s Benefits Delivery Modernization program, where I supported the rollout of Old Age Security and the Employment Insurance Benefits Estimator. Before that, I was acting director in Shared Services Canada’s Cloud Directorate, where I founded the Cloud Centre of Excellence. Earlier still, I worked in networking and security for Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
What I work on
- Azure architecture: application migration and deployment
- Azure security posture: Private Endpoints, Defender for Cloud, Sentinel
- DevSecOps pipelines: vulnerability remediation using SAST, DAST and SCA in Azure DevOps and GitHub
- Infrastructure as code with Bicep and (to a lesser degree) Terraform
Outside the day job
I founded Exploits Bay Cyber Corp, where I use Claude Code to build workflows and applications, and help clients build their own. The day job serves internal government clients; Exploits Bay is open to anyone doing this work. The tools I’ve built are on the projects page.
